Irma was born in Los Angeles, is the youngest of the two Valens sisters, and is considered the Diva of the family.
Irma loves to tell stories about Ritchie and one of her favorites is how Ritchie
would happily play and sing her and Connie’s favorite songs in the back yard
of their home.
Irma and Mama had a close relationship and Mama helped raise Irma’s boys
while she worked.
Irma has a creative nature and she loved fixing Mama’s hair. They talked about
Irma’s going to Beauty College and after losing Mama, Irma did just that.
Irma’s first day of Beauty College was, ironically,
February 3, the anniversary of The Day the Music Died.
Irma and her husband, Randy, currently live in Las Vegas where they enjoy attending
shows and are often invited as special guests. Irma has not sung professionally,
but she likes to sing songs from the 50’s and 60’s at karaoke. Irma
enjoys traveling, especially road trips to visit her siblings and their families.
